Infrastructure Electrical Services
Street lighting and traffic signals, lift stations and public facilities, and public bid support for cities, counties and utility districts across the Yakima Valley.
Chapter 01
Dark stretches, knocked-down poles and signals that cannot stop
Public electrical work is noticed only when it fails. A stretch of road goes dark, a pole gets knocked down by a truck, or a signal has to keep an intersection moving while the crew rebuilds the corner around it. Cities and counties need a contractor who treats those as the job, not as interruptions to it.
Our crews install and maintain street lighting and traffic signals: new installations, LED conversions, knockdown repairs, and scheduled maintenance that keeps roadways lit and intersections moving safely. 509 Electric is a licensed Washington electrical contractor (509ELE*8218O) based in Yakima, and the roads in this work are the ones around us.
That work runs on equipment as much as skill. Our digger-derrick truck, with 509 ELECTRIC and our phone number on the door, is how street light poles get set beside a new road.

Signals, street lights and conduit on real intersections
On the East Nob Hill Boulevard and Fair Avenue intersection improvements for the City of Yakima, our scope is signal and illumination electrical work, including signal equipment, street lighting and underground conduit. Elsewhere we have worked on the Second Street Roundabout in Cle Elum, the Keys Road widening, the Canyon Road overlay for the City of Ellensburg, and the WSDOT Eschbach Road and Ackley Road project.
The list continues in Toppenish with the South Toppenish Avenue and West First Avenue improvements, on West Birchfield Road, and in Ellensburg at the Kittitas County Courthouse sidewalk improvements. We have also done electrical work for the Yakima Greenway active transportation and park improvements and the EHS bus loop.
Roadwork has its own rhythm. Underground conduit has to go in while the ground is open, and the order of work is set by the civil contractor, so the electrical has to be ready when the civil crew is. That is the schedule discipline general contractors already know us for, applied to public work across Yakima and Kittitas counties.
Chapter 03
Lift stations, reservoirs and fish screens
Municipal and public works electrical support covers lift stations and other public facilities, the systems communities depend on every day, kept reliable through installation, troubleshooting and maintenance. These are jobs where the customer notices the work only if something stops, which is the right standard to build to.
Our recent work includes the Midvale Street Light and Lift Station, and the City of Grandview's existing 3.0-million-gallon west reservoir project. In Toppenish we are providing electrical and controls work for the Solids Handling Treatment Upgrade at the wastewater treatment plant, where the control side matters as much as the power side.
Fish passage work belongs here too. We did the electrical work for the Cascade at Coleman Creek fish passage and screening project, now completed, and we are putting in the circuits and control panels for fish screens at Roza Diversion Dam. Our UL508A panel shop in Yakima means the control panels for jobs like these are built by the same company doing the field wiring.
Public bid work, documentation and prevailing wage
Public work comes with paperwork that private work does not. We offer public bid and government project support for contractors and agencies, from planning through completion, with the documentation, prevailing-wage compliance and coordination public work requires.
Our work is for cities, counties and utility districts across the Yakima Valley, and the person who estimates a public job is Nick Nalley, who also runs the project. Nicole Nalley handles the contracts, licensing and insurance behind every job, so the questions a bid package asks about the company get answered by the people who run it.
If you have a public project going to bid, send us the plans or call (509) 571-1082. Hours at our Yakima shop are Monday to Friday, 7am to 4pm, and we ask that you call first, because the crews are usually out on jobs.
